From the creator of one of our all-time favorite blogs Cat Party comes Chelsea: “A magazine for girls with style”. While this will be the second issue of Chelsea, it’s been awhile since we’ve seen it on stands and can’t wait to see what’s inside: A trip to a fashion psychic, a Heathers inspired photoshoot, and some seriously amazing cat/human fashions care of illustrator Elisabeth Moch. Right now you can place orders on the Chelsea Website or at select NYC bookstores.

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

While we’re unsure about how indepth the upcoming Serge Gainsbourg biopic from France might be, one thing’s for sure: The costume design alone should be worth the price of admission. Check out the Young Bridget Bardot and Jane Birkin look alikes below!

Blog We Love: LUXIRARE Combines Fashion And Food

Monday, August 9th, 2010

While fashion and food aren’t necessarily two things you might normally equate with each other, the splendid Luxirare blog manages to blend these worlds seamlessly. It’s author, who in addition to being an accomplished foodie is also a fashion and accessories designer, set out with the idea to create “a weekly webzine dedicated to clothing and cuisine. At Luxirare, the typical notion of a seasonal fashion show or seasonal ‘menu’ does not exist. Styles and recipes are presented as individual pieces that do not follow a strict theme but rather a flow of ideas.” In short, literally food for thought.

However, what makes the blog so interesting is the pictures. Check out some of LUXIRARE’s home cooking and fashion fixins below:

Remembering Dennis Hopper

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Picture 57

Following the recent passing of esteemed actor Dennis Hopper, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) held an event this past Saturday to celebrate his life and creations. Well known for his prolific film work, it’s often overlooked that the actor also dabbled in various art mediums and the exploration of pop culture. The exhibit (in conjunction with the event ) traces the evolution of Hopper’s artistic output, featuring more than 200 works spanning his 60-year career. As for the night itself, it was a fitting and beautiful way to commemorate the memory of such a multifaceted artist.

The exhibition will be on view from July 11- September 16, 2010

ABC Show ‘Castle’ at Dolce Vita

Friday, April 9th, 2010

The ABC Show ‘Castle‘ filmed a scene at the Melrose Store this past week. Our store underwent an extreme transformation. The show’s set dresser replaced all our furniture and added an entire wall facade installment! It was neat to see the store dress up for a special television appearance. The scene took place in New York, so we got to pretend we were bicoastal for a bit. Check out the photos!
