Radio City Music Hall presents Regina Spektor

Regina Spektor was back in New York today, performing at the one and only Radio City Music Hall. She is currently promoting her new cd Far, which features some of our personal favorites such as “Blue Lips” and “Dance Anthem of the 80’s”. Always a spectacular performance, Regina Spektor wowed us with her unique voice and quirky lyrics. It’s great to hear personal poetry from an artist that we would call mainstream, which is a change from the lip-syncing that surround us today (we won’t mention names….Britney Spears). She showed a bit of her serious side during the song “Laughing with” which deals with faith.

Overall a fun show, worth every penny! If you don’t have her new album, we recommend you hop on your computer and download some of her tunes. Her lyrics are fun and playful and her personality shined through during this memorable performance here in New York City. We are sad to see her go, but if you are lucky enough to be in the next city she is traveling to, pick up a ticket!

Another Abbot Kinney Festival has come and gone. For all of you who are not local to the Santa Monica/Venice neighborhood this is a festival that is put on every year by the Abbot Kinney Festival Association. They are non-profit and put all their earnings towards helping our environment and people from all walks of life with a focus on youth and the arts. The yearly festival is a celebration that includes alot of music, drinking, families, pets, art, culture and food. This has been a great way of attracting people from all over since 1984. We loook forward to all the years to come of this fantastic tradition!

Thom Yorke at the Orpheum Theatre

thomyorkeorpheum

If you were in LA this past weekend and were lucky enought to get tickets to Thom Yorke at the intimate historic Orpheum Theatre before they sold out in under a minute then you can relate to this post. For all you Radiohead fans you will understand as well. We were lucky enough to get 2 tickets in the front of the theatre for the sunday night show! The beauty of the venue mixed with the orgasmic sounds provided by Thom Yorke (Vocals and Piano), Joey Waronker (Drummer for Beck), Mauro Refosco (Percussionist), Flea (of Red Hot Chilli Peppers on Bass), and Radiohead’s long time producer Nigel Godrich (Guitar & Keyboard) made for quite the music experience. He played his 2006 solo album, “The Eraser”, in its entirety, followed by several new songs that are yet to be named. Can’t wait for the next one!!!

There is always something going on in New York, and Saturday night was no exception. Williamsburg’s newest addition for nightlife fun is Brooklyn Bowl. The Italo Disco band Glass Candy were performing on stage to an enthusiastic crowd in the massive space’s open band section where bowlers can still enjoy the music. Blue Ribbon restaraunt is nestled right by the bar and the alleys making this the spot you can fulfill the necessities of a good night: food, music, dancing, fun, and above all- getting your drink on!
