Bastide Reopens

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

bastide

After a long hiatus, Bastide – the restaurant next door – has reopened. Remodeled with the addition of an adorable bookstore boutique called “Assouline Publishing,” the formerly luxe eatery has reintroduced itself with a bit of accessibility. Plates range from $10 – $30 and the restaurant has taken on more of a cafe feel, but the food is still just as delicious. Check out LA Weekly for more info on Bastide’s reopening.

Dolce Vita in Sex and the City Sequel

Monday, October 19th, 2009

***SPOILER ALERT***

For those of you craving more Sex and the City, we have good news for you! The second installment of the movie is scheduled to release May 2010, and some gossip hounds here at the Melrose store have managed to uncover some juicy details.

Along with great scenes involving Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte in head to toe 80’s getups, the sequel will feature a scene with Kim Cattral’s character (Samantha) and Miley Cyrus running into each other on the red carpet, embarassingly wearing the same outfit.

As shown above, the two wear matching sparkly mini-dresses and the Marilyn boot by Dolce Vita in Desert. The characters may be commiting major fashion faus pax, but for how amazing these boots are, we don’t blame them.

The Pink Party

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

“a cocktail party and silent auction benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This foundation is the biggest charity of its kind, supporting breast cancer research and raising up to $1.3 billion.”

The days are slowly but surely cooling down over here at the Melrose Place store. We’ve been welcoming some new neighbors to our little street – it’s been nice to have some fresh faces to fill the previously empty spaces.”

This Thursday, October 8th Serge Normant at John Freida Salon will be hosting ‘The Pink Party,’ a cocktail party and silent auction benefitting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This foundation is the biggest charity of its kind, supporting breast cancer research and raising up to $1.3 billion. We’re so excited to be participants, since Dolce Vita will be donating a $200 gift card for the auction as well as gift cards of smaller amounts for the goodie bags.

Expect a press wall, DJ, and drinks donated by Stella Artois, Red Bull, and Jana water, plus a ton of press. Everyone is welcome and will have an equal opportunity to bid on assorted items of the cache, including everything from designer shoes, bags, jewelry, and dresses to personal training and pilates sessions, laser facials, and spa treatments.

So even though summer is long gone (it being October), come help us support a great cause and mark the winding down of long, hot days. See ya there!

Thom Yorke at the Orpheum Theatre

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

thomyorkeorpheum

If you were in LA this past weekend and were lucky enought to get tickets to Thom Yorke at the intimate historic Orpheum Theatre before they sold out in under a minute then you can relate to this post. For all you Radiohead fans you will understand as well. We were lucky enough to get 2 tickets in the front of the theatre for the sunday night show! The beauty of the venue mixed with the orgasmic sounds provided by Thom Yorke (Vocals and Piano), Joey Waronker (Drummer for Beck), Mauro Refosco (Percussionist), Flea (of Red Hot Chilli Peppers on Bass), and Radiohead’s long time producer Nigel Godrich (Guitar & Keyboard) made for quite the music experience. He played his 2006 solo album, “The Eraser”, in its entirety, followed by several new songs that are yet to be named. Can’t wait for the next one!!!
