Everyone Needs Cashmere

cashmere02

I had just looked around to what I perceived as dubious looks from all of my coworkers. I had a second before stated that I was going to buy an exquisite cashmere sweater that we sell in the store. Maybe I was receiving dubious looks because, after all, I’m the girl who doesn’t spend money on anything. I was recessionista before there was a recession to speak of. I bring my lunch, and ride a bike to work so I don’t have to buy a Metro Card. And I had just stated I was buying cashmere. Why would someone so budget conscious do that?  To me, there were many reasons. My new sweater was rife with all the right details. Although it was just a simple grey cardigan, the v-neck that hit in the exact right place on me, and the scale was exactly right for my petite frame. The length made it perfect to wear with jeans, leggings, or even the occasional harem pant.  It would be my definitive sweater for the whole fall.  And yes, it was quite similar to the sweater I was already wearing, but the one I was wearing was from a purveyor of throw-away fashion. The fit and quality just wasn’t the same. The cheap one took on a definite dingy hue when compared with the other.  Plus, I was chilly in it.  So I bought the cashmere. And, by the end of the season, no one will be looking at me funny. There will be no question as to why I purchased it. As I rode my bike home that night I felt something that I hadn’t felt all day.  I felt warm!
